Dinner Guests

Elder Minikov (from Russia) and Elder Cecil (from California)

Mikhail and Lyena Davydik

Their conversion story and history in the church is so interesting. The phone rang in their home and she could tell the call was from an American because of their accent. She told her husband that someone from America wanted to talk to him. The missionary said, "Is this Mikhail." He answers, "yes." Missionary, "We visited with you today at the market." Mikhail, "Not me, I wasn't at the market today." The missionary, "Well we have a message that God would like you to hear." Milkhail thinks,"Well if God wants to talk to me I better listen." Two weeks later Mikhail, his wife and one of their two daughters were baptized. The other wasn't eight years old yet and was baptized later. Shortly after that he was called to be the first branch president in Minsk. A few years later he served as a mission president in Russia.
He was instrumental in getting Sofia started so missionaries could still come to Belarus when government restriction were placed on foreign religions. He was a good friend with The Hesses from St. Anthony, helping him with the humanitarian potato project. Mikhail is now serving as ward mission leader and his wife is the relief society president. A great family and truly pioneers of the gospel in Belarus.
