Violet from Rotary Club invited us to take a tour of the St. Elizabeth Monestery in the Minsk.
Because it is Russian Orthodox the women have to wear scarves.
The nuns take turns praying for people at this stand 24 hours a day. Each one will take a turn for an hour so prayers are constantly being said for people who have requested prayers to be offered for them. The names are written in a large book.
They make and sell different kinds of icons. This particular one is done with semi-precious stone of different colors crushed then glued onto a marble slat to make the picture. Each color is a different stone. The detail was amazying.
