We opened two projects last week in the Grodno Region. We visited two Retirement Homes for the Elderly and Handicapped. One was in Dyatlovo and the other in Kurilovich. We saw residents using wheelchairs donated by the church at both homes. Dasha and Valya enjoyed visiting with the residents outside while we had a tour of the facility.
When we stopped for lunch we saw a patch of wild strawberries. They were very, very small but tasted so good.
At the same spot we also found some wild blueberries growing. Again we only picked enough just to get a taste.
We decided it was easier to buy from the roadside vendors. I visited with the man and he said in English, "President Obama." And then he said a lot of other stuff in Russian so I don't know if he likes the man or not. He was smiling while he was talking to us. They are just such nice people where ever we go. The little lady didn't want her pictures taken because he legs were sore. I'm not sure why that would be a reason. They pick these berries in the forest and sell to help make a living. We also bought some new potatoes from a family garden which we cooked them for dinner Sunday for our guest (a family in the branch). The potatoes were small but they sure tasted good.

It looks like they have nice roads to travel on. The road side businesses look pretty small.
It is fun to see pictures of Sergei's cute girls.
Those blueberries look delicious. We bought some from the Farmer's Market on Saturday and they were gone by Sunday. The kids love them. I can't argue...much better than candy and just as sweet.
We were on a walk the other day and saw a bush that had what I think were blackberries. Hannah wanted to eat one and I told her, "There are some people out there that know what berries are ok to eat and what berries will make you sick. We are NOT one of those people! We only eat berries that come from the store!"
I was wondering if those wer5e Sergi's girls, but Mandy answered my question. Roadside looks beautiful.
