Man chasing run-away horse with hay loaded on his fork. It was so funny. He kept yelling "Whoa, Whoa, Whoa." In Russian of course but we knew what he meant.
Minsk city at night, it is really quit beautiful. Some of the sight during the day!! Very interesting. Across the street from our apartment. The building we look for telling us it's time to get off the bus. The other night it was foggy so we missed this landmark, missed our bus stopped, and had to walk a long ways to get home. But we made it and are smarter because of the experience. (Look for closer landmarks!!!)
These are the people we have met here and that we work with in the office. The young men and the "young volunteers." The Capeners, the couple we replaced, are sitting in the chairs. The girl by me is Leana, then Natasha, Eugeny, E. Pollard, Sergie, E. Michalis, also sitting E. Williams.
We didn't have a chance to put everything away when this picture was taken and four of us were staying here. We have since had a chance to get a bit more organized. It is really much better than I was expecting. We have to go through four different locked doors to get inside so we feel very safe. Have met one of our neighbors--a guy from Turkey I think, but not sure.
I do not know why those are side ways. They are not that way when I click on them in "my pictures." Any ideas? I click on it but it will not let me turn once it is posted. I'll keep working on that.
I'm not sure why the picture is like this. I'm not totally knowing what I am doing. The first night we were here Sergie (our driver, interpretor) took us shopping for coats, hats, and boots to keep us warm. We have definatedly been glad because we walk everywhere and it is very cold.
We did the neatest thing yesterday. Visited two resident homes for the aged and invalid. Talked to two sweet ladies older than 80 years. The church provided a new stove, stove vent, food processor, and cooking tables that they were so excited about. It really felt good to be able to help them. I took a cute picture of two of the residents that really looked like a babooska, but I have yet had time to figure out how to download pictures. So now you only get words. We have just been going too hard and fast to try to learn everything before the Caperners leave. So stay posted for some fun pictures. We have not seen the sun since we arrived. Lots of snow!!
Another successful Christmas breakfast which could not happen without all of the kids helping us. It is indeed a "family project" in which they all work so hard to help their "old ma and pa." Thanks to eveyone that helped--we really appreciated it!!
Max felt good enough one day to leave the house to watch Preslee's program. We left right after as Max was still pretty sore and weak from his recent surgery.
